I will never forget the time I realized there’s actually a difference between being busy and being productive.
I was in my shed (mid-winter) painting. I was listening to @msrachelhollis‘s Podcast featuring @brendonburchard. Brendon is a High Performance Coach and Rach said that he’s the most productive person she knows – that’s a huge compliment coming from her!
Brendon started talking about all of these hacks on how he stays productive and my first thought was — HOLY CRAP I am a loser! 😂 Then, I was like wait, does he have kids?😂😂
Either way, I realized that I could be MORE productive and make my life a lot less stressful with some of his tips. One of my favorites tips is to take breaks to avoid burnout. Work 50 minutes, take a 10 minute break, repeat.
Today I received and email that had a really good (yet simple) hack for staying productive, which is why I decided to do a post on productivity. Here is a 5-step method for peak productivity that @awesomestationsent to me by Ivy Lee!
#1 – At the end of each work day, write down the six most important things you’d like to accomplish tomorrow. No more than six.
#2 – Prioritize these in order of true importance.
#3 – When you arrive tomorrow, focus on the first task. Work on it until complete. Then move to the second task.
#4 – At the end of each day, move unfinished items to a new list of six items for the following day.
#5 – Rinse and repeat.
